Strength-based Changes

A favourite excerpt from Daniel Goleman’s book Focus: “A conversation that starts with a person’s dreams and hopes can lead to a learning path yielding that vision. This conversation might extract some concrete goals from the general vision, then look at what it would take to accomplish those goals-and what capacities we might want to work on improving to get there.”


By focusing on and highlighting the strengths and the individual’s vision over weaknesses and shortcomings, we can help others (and ourselves) blast past limiting factors and set backs to make meaningful, strength-based changes.
