Update- Just under 12 weeks out from shoot

Hi there! I hope you had a great weekend and are having a nice start to the week.

It feels now like my head is right back in everything. Since the last update about really questioning things I’ve just got to work and let my body tell me what it wants to do. I figure if I follow the plan (nutrition and training) and things begin to change in the right direction and I still feel okay (physically, mentally, emotionally) then that’s a great sign that things are good to go and that this may be the right choice. If, however, it feels like my body/mind are fighting the process (eg: having a difficult time sticking to the meal plan, weakness during training or not being able to “get into it”) it may be a good idea to go back again and reassess.

It feels like allowing the time to question what I really want has reaffirmed my choice to do this shoot and I’m very glad to have allowed myself to think things through.

Everything seems to have changed very quickly over the past week and it’s possible that I may even have to increase food intake and/or change training shortly to slow down the process, for now. We’ll just have to see. Measurements, skin folds and pictures will be taken again in a short while to get a better idea of what’s going on.

Another thing I’m thinking is, since there is a wedding in a couple of weeks that would be really nice to be able to enjoy some “forbidden” options at, it could also be a great idea to be ahead.

Energy over the past couple of days has plummeted quite a bit because of where things are at in my monthly cycle. That happens and, in a little while, it will be back up again. It’s weird though because usually I feel like eating everything in sight around this time while body composition changes are taking place (even at the beginning) and hold a pretty large amount of water (anywhere from 5-10lbs). I don’t really feel like that at all right now and, as far as I can tell, it doesn’t seem like I’m holding water (not complaining!) This doesn’t mean this could change as body composition changes more and more. Hormones may be thrown off a bit the leaner everything gets. With wonky hormones may come increased PMS symptoms. It’s a pretty nice little gift!

Knowing your monthly cycles is important all the time and very important when it comes to body composition changes. It’s also super helpful to know how different things may be the more/less balanced hormonally you are.

By “things” being different I mean pre-menstrual symptoms, and how different the period you experience may be from a more or less balanced state. These may not be things a lot of people want to read/hear about, especially a lot of the male gender, but very important things for coaches, clients, and any other female making body comp./lifestyle changes to be aware of.
